Muslim Aid Appoints New CEO with Renewed Focus on UK Operation!

Muslim Aid is delighted to announce the appointment of Khalid Javid as its permanent Chief Executive Officer, effective 1st September 2023. His appointment follows a successful tenure as Interim CEO since February 2023.

Khalid has over two decades of charity sector experience. He launched his fundraising career at Muslim Aid in 2007 before moving into the faith-based media sector with roles in Eman Channel and Islam Channel before taking up the UK Director role at Physicians Across Continents where he led international humanitarian initiatives in Cambodia, Bangladesh, Somalia, Sudan, Mauritania, and Nigeria.

Khalid’s recent focus has been on tackling the UK’s cost-of-living crisis, notably overseeing Muslim Aid deliver over 30,000 meals in Tower Hamlets during this year’s Ramadan Campaign. As CEO, his vision includes intensified efforts to help UK beneficiaries, which has recently seen a growing need, as well as expanding Muslim Aid’s international programmes.

While Khalid was Interim-CEO, Muslim Aid was named as the most loved Muslim Charity in the UK as well as the most loved charity in the humanitarian sector by an independent survey, a successful fundraising campaign during Ramadan and our most successful ever Qurbani Appeal.

One of the UK’s most loved charities, Muslim Aid has been guided by Islamic values in tackling poverty and providing relief since 1985. Our commitment is to serve humanity by delivering emergency aid, sustainable livelihoods, housing, education, and healthcare.

On his appointment, Khalid said: “I am honoured and genuinely excited to lead Muslim Aid into its next chapter. I truly believe in the power of Khidmah (Service) which is one of Muslim Aid’s values, to transform society. I will continue to make sure the prophetic example of service to humanity is at the centre of everything we do.”
