July 3, 2025 – A new study by global AdTech leader Eskimi has revealed that in Bangladesh, online ads achieve the highest engagement on news websites, significantly outperforming other digital platforms. Across the board, website-based ads are proving more effective than those on mobile apps in driving consumer interaction. Eskimi is a global full-stack creative and media tech platform, specializing in data-driven ad solutions. With a reach of 2.5 billion users and teams across 30+ global markets, Eskimi empowers brands with precise audience targeting, engaging creative formats, premium inventory, and locally relevant campaigns that drive results.
Top-Performing Platforms: News Portals Dominate, Gaming Apps Excel on Mobile
Eskimi’s research shows that 60% of the top-performing websites in Bangladesh are news portals. Online marketplaces follow with 15%, and discount sites account for 10%. The study analyzed over 14,000 banner ad campaigns globally, including a deep dive into performance in the Bangladeshi market.
While news sites dominate in the web space, a different pattern emerges on mobile. Here, gaming apps top the charts, followed by technology apps in terms of ad engagement.
“In the cluttered digital landscape, ads can easily fade into the background. Brands that ignore creative quality and audience behavior often fail to connect,” said Joshua Prottoy Adhikari, Eskimi’s Regional Director for South Asia. “This study highlights that platform selection plays a vital role in campaign success. Advertisers must consider not only reach but also the content and reputation of each platform.”
Local Sites Outperform, But Foreign Apps Take the Lead on Mobile
Interestingly, 95% of the most effective advertising websites identified in Bangladesh are either locally owned or create Bangladeshi content. However, when it comes to mobile apps, foreign platforms outperform local ones in terms of engagement.
The study also noted that brands from industries such as FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods), finance, retail, and technology were the most active advertisers across the highest-performing digital platforms in Bangladesh.
“Many advertisers are becoming more deliberate about where their ads appear,” added Adhikari. “Being selective helps protect brand integrity and ensures better results.”
Adhikari’s Tips for Boosting Campaign Impact
To help marketers improve their results, Adhikari offered four practical recommendations:
- Invest in high-quality creatives – Experiment with fresh formats. Video ads are becoming especially popular in Bangladesh.
- Choose platforms wisely – Build your strategy around high-performing website and app categories in the local market.
- Diversify distribution channels – Combine both display and mobile advertising for maximum reach and engagement.
- Leverage expert partnerships – Collaborate with media agencies or DSP providers to develop smart, data-backed ad strategies.
Methodology
Eskimi’s study examined over 14,000 global digital ad campaigns that ran between June 18 and December 18, 2024. Only campaigns with 500,000+ impressions were included. The analysis segmented campaigns by country, engagement rate, platform type (website vs. app), and whether the platform had international or local relevance.
